Readiness Timeline
The information problem
Yacht readiness is an information problem. An information problem before an incident, and an investigation afterwards. You didn't know. You forgot. Or you knew, and decided not to act.
The first is information you didn't have. The second is a failure of memory. The third is a failure of timing.
The irony is that after a failure at sea, discovering information about what went wrong is always the first priority. It is usually found but by then the damage is done.
If yacht readiness is an information problem, why does private yacht owner software stop at oil, impellers, filters and a few other parts while that hidden five dollar can stop the engine or bring down the mast? These are real problems customers have contacted me about.
What owners need
Owners need a view of their readiness that is continuously updated from operational data and can be projected into the future. The next voyage, this year, the next five years.
Delivering this information to owners requires reality-based engineering models that give owners somewhere to store complete data, assess condition versus clear criteria, and provide visible information about the criticality of action.
Why I built YachtPrep
I solve the owner's information problem by tackling the complexity of boat data. I built YachtPrep because the other software did not deliver what I needed and I was the first customer.
What I do
Cutting through the complexity of your boat data to give you a complete view of your readiness is what I do. I take all your documents and spreadsheets, interview you, and push your data into our engineering, document and voyage planning models.
I then work with you to configure your readiness criteria and support you moving forward so you have a clear view of your boat's condition.
One boat a week
I take on one boat a week. My goal is not to be the biggest, but to deliver the best value to a small group of select owners.
